Ridley Scott: Born in South Shields, in Tyne and Wear, England, Ridley Scott grew up in an Army family, meaning that for most of his early life, his father — an officer in the Royal Engineers — was absent. Ridley's older brother, Frank, joined the Merchant Navy when he was still young and the pair had little contact. During this time the family moved around, living in (among other areas) Cumbria, Wales and Germany. After the Second World War, the Scott family moved back to their native north-east England, eventually settling in Teesside (whose industrial landscape would later inspire similar scenes in Blade Runner). He enjoyed watching films, and his favourites include Lawrence of Arabia, Citizen Kane and Seven Samurai.] Scott studied in Teesside from 1954 to 1958, at Grangefield Grammar School and later in West Hartlepool College of Art, graduating with a Diploma in Design. He progressed to an M.A. in graphic design at the Royal College of Art from 1960 to 1962.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMB (1991), HANNIBAL (2001) and RED DRAGON (2002)

This trilogy of movie is one series everyone should watch to see the magic in the acting of Anthony Hopkins. No doubt the first, The Silence of the Lamb was the best among three as it normally happens with trilogies. Hannibal was an average movie but the Red Dragon again brought back the series to the past glory. Anthony Hopkins has done an excellent job in acting and deserves applause. Though the three movies have been directed by different directors the movie seems to have some continuation from the past. Also each of the movies is unique in itself as there is a different case to unravel every time. This is a series of deep suspense and action movies which will keep you wondering what next. My rating for the series is 75% good.

SNATCH (2000)

Written and Directed by Guy Ritchie this movie is one hell of an action crime movie. Watch this movie to hear the weird English accent of Brad Pitt who plays the role of a bare knuckle boxer. Movie also stars Jason Statham who plays the role a boxing promoter and is known as the ‘Turkish’. The movie is about a chase for the priceless 86 carat diamond among boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers, and supposedly Jewish jewelers. The whole mess that’s created brings the action an also comedy in the movie. My rating for the movie is 70% good.

eXISTENZ (1999)

Where should I start, I have no idea what the story writer of this movie had in his mind and what he wanted to tell. Direction is also not so great to talk about same as the story of the movie. The movie is about a game designer; Jennifer Jason Leigh on the run from assassins must play her latest virtual reality creation with a marketing trainee; Jude Law to determine if the game has been damaged or not. It was hard to understand the depth behind the movie as the directed tried to complicate things till the end of the movie. My rating for the movie is 55% good.

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE (2010)

Directed by Pierre Morel this movie is an action adventure of special agents against the radical terrorist. John Travolta plays the role of Charlie Wax who comes to Paris for a special assignment when he is contacted by an employee, Jonathan Rhys in the office of the American ambassador. The mission is to stop the terrorist attack in the city. Movie has many flaws in its story and direction, many of the scenes are irrelevant for example the ending scene when Travolta and Jonathan stop to play a match of chess just before their plane is about to leave. My rating for the movie is 55% good

GET SMART (2008)

Dwayne Johnson “The rock” starrer, Get Smart is a rib tickling spy comedy bound to rule the box office. Not to forget Steve Carell, Agent 86 in the movie has lot to offer with his experience in comedy. The movie is about Agent 86 competing against the more competent defaulter spy Agent 23 and the villain KAOS. Movie is funny because not so smart Agent 86 tries to prove his worth to the agency and in doing so fails most of the time. Anna Hathaway also plays a role of the beautiful spy Agent 99 which is also adds to the comedy as she is suppose to be one of the best Agents in the agency. Directed by Peter Segal movie is a mix of action, adventure and comedy. MY rating for the movie is 65% good.

FLYBOYS (2006)

The movie is about few American soldiers who volunteered to fight for the French military before America entered the world war. The list of actors is long and everyone has put in efforts to create the war like impact for the movie. Directed by Tony Bill movie has many flaws when he has tried to portray a love story in between the war otherwise the movie is worth the time and money. One of the American fighters, actor James Franco stands out for his acting among all the other actors. War movies mostly depend on heavy backdrops and costly sets and also dialogues that motivate, but this movie has some drawbacks in these areas. My rating for this movie is 65% good.
