FULL METAL JACKET (1987)

Well I think you will not find a better movie on Army training and War. The movie showcase the hurdles that soldiers come across before becoming a Marine and also depict the hurdles they face during the war. Written and directed by Stanley Kubrick, Full Metal Jacket is one of the best movies on Vietnam War. The movie is about a pragmatic U.S. Marine who observes the dehumanizing effects the Vietnam War has had on his fellow Marine recruits during and before the Vietnam War. Some of the scenes in the movie are really touching and challenge your mind to think upon the complexity of the situation during War. My rating for the Movie is 85% good.

RESCUE DOWN (2006)

A FISH CALLED WANDA (1988)

Directed by Charles Crichton this movie is all about comedy, crime, love and deception. Being a late 80’s movie it has all the spices of a good movie in the right amount rather I would say it is a typical Bollywood movie concept. Among the four robbers actress Jamie Lee Curtis stands out with her performance and screen presence. My rating for this movie is 70% good

SLING BLADE (1996)

Written and Directed by Billy Bob Thornton this is a gem of movie. And not forget Billy Bob Thornton is also the lead actor for this movie. I have to say He has really done a great job not only in terms of screenplay but also in his acting as lead role of a mentally challenged person. The movie is about a mentally challenged child who is thrown into correction facility after he killed his mother and her lover with a sling blade. The story then takes an interesting turn when he is released to start his new life. STAND BY ME (1986)

There are very few good movies of childhood friends and this movie beats it all. Though the movie is bit old the story behind the movie is still fresh and touching. The movie is about four friends who go on a journey to find a body of a missing child so that they become famous by getting their photographs clicked for daily newspaper. And on this journey they have some very interesting moments which connect to everyone’s childhood in some way. All four friends are typical in their character and I am sure that you would have had at least one such friend among your childhood friends. Movie also highlights the dilemma about life/death in the minds of different generations. My rating for this movie is 75% good.

BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA (2007)

This movie does seem a fantasy movie from its cover and title but there is more to it. A beautiful story about friendship and reminisce of school days. The movie brings out few of the most touching scenes in the story which keeps the audience spell bound throughout the movie. Both the child actors have done a good job and deserve applause. The movie is about two friends whose lives are changed after discovering their power of imagination and thereby discovering TERABITHIA. My rating for the movie is 75%good
